Halcyon Cottage
The name Halcyon comes from a mythical bird, often associated with the kingfisher, believed to calm the sea during the winter solstice. This sense of tranquillity became our guiding principle. The interiors take subtle inspiration from the kingfisher’s vivid blues and warm oranges, creating a space that feels uplifting yet restful — a place to pause, breathe, and feel at ease.
Middle Street Conservation Area
We first fell in love with Deal when we visited in 2022. Its unpretentious charm, creative spirit, and warm, welcoming community instantly drew us back again and again. Middle Street’s historic houses, with their handmade bricks, sash windows, and gentle coastal wear, perfectly capture the town’s character: quietly beautiful, proudly independent, and shaped by the sea.
A Family Affair
When we discovered this 1840s cottage, it was very much in need of care, but we saw its potential immediately. Restoring it became a true family affair, with many hands helping to strip back, repair, repaint, and rebuild. From structural work to the finishing touches, the cottage was revived with patience, respect, and love. Our hope is that guests feel not just the comfort of a holiday home, but the warmth of a place that has been thoughtfully brought back to life.
