Halcyon Cottage on Market Street

Tucked away on Market Street, a small and quietly charming road within Deal’s conservation area, Halcyon Cottage sits among a close-knit community of characterful 19th-century homes. Built in the 1840s, the street is defined by its gently weathered facades, traditional brickwork, and the easy familiarity of neighbours who know one another.

Just four houses from the seafront, the coast can be reached in under a minute — close enough to feel the presence of the sea, yet far enough to enjoy a sense of calm and privacy. Step outside and you’re instantly immersed in the rhythm of Deal: morning swims, coastal walks, independent shops, and the simple pleasure of returning to a peaceful cottage at the end of the day.

Living Room

Warm and inviting, the living space is centred around a cosy wood-burning stove, perfect for relaxed evenings in. Original exposed brickwork adds character, while the smart TV offers easy entertainment after a day exploring the coast. An extendable card table sits ready for anyone who enjoys a friendly game of UNO or a quiet moment spent together.

Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped, with everything you need for an easy, comfortable stay, including a hob, oven, washing machine, kettle, and Nespresso machine with complimentary capsules. A small dining area seats up to three, ideal for slow breakfasts or casual suppers after a day exploring Deal.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is designed as a calm retreat, featuring a king-sized bed dressed in luxurious linens. Soft colours and gentle light create a restful atmosphere: a space to unwind fully and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.

Single Bedroom

Bright, cheerful, and full of personality, the single bedroom offers a comfortable single bed and a small desk. Its colourful design makes it equally suited to children, teenagers, or adults seeking a cosy private space.

Bathroom

Modern and fresh, the bathroom features a shower and contemporary fittings: simple, functional, and designed for comfort. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are supplied.

Hallway

Arranged over two floors, the cottage is connected by a colourful hallway and solid, original-style stairs — a charming and slightly unusual feature for a cottage of this size. As with any period property, we recommend taking extra care with young children.

Courtyard Garden

A private courtyard sits just outside the cottage, catching the sun in both the morning and early evening. It’s a lovely spot for a quiet coffee at the start of the day or a glass of wine as the light fades: a peaceful extension of the home outdoors.
